Burgandy Beam approaches her career (and, one suspects, her life as well) with a true renaissance sensibility. She has studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Parsons School of Design in New York, and Columbia College. She appears to be equally at home in the areas of advertising and marketing, fashion design, and illustration. Wearing the hat of business-owner is also among her many accomplishments.

As an illustrator, most notably in children's media, she professes no favorite subject or medium because she "enjoys the challenge each project brings". Empirically speaking one has to recognize Burgandy's cut paper renderings as most impressive for their meticulous composition. Yet in all her work there is a deceptively sweet simplicity.

Burgandy is the recipient of an Addy Award for design and illustration, The John Capels Award for Direct Marketing, and several awards for her work in fashion design.

Burgandy recently moved from Chicago to sunny Arizona, where she can be closer to west coast family.
