As a child in my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, I often made my creations out of whatever colorful "little bits" I came across. I always had a passion for color, which I believe originally drew me to art. Collages, wall hangings, and decorative boxes were among my favorite projects. I took my interests and color scrapping-inclinations to the next level, earning a Fine Arts degree from Auburn University.
I then quickly integrated myself into the design world, landing a job as a staff artist for a greeting card and giftware company. Realizing that I'd found the perfect job for my design sensibilities, I began to experiment with playful designs. I went on to work in the advertising department of a large department store, at an advertising agency and at Social Expressions Catalog Company. Throughout the years, I've created a myriad of products for many companies including Sunrise Greeting Card, Paper Magic, Cleo, American Greetings, Renaissance, Creative Expressions, Dixie Cup, and many others. My colorful, whimsical designs are featured in numerous forms: on children's illustrations and apparel, greeting cards, tableware, paper plates, giftware, home décor, mailbox coverings, fabric design, school products, magazine illustrations, wall plaques, posters, paper cups, paper napkins, placemats, and more.
Upon visiting Colorado Springs, Colorado, I decided to call it home, pulled there by the continually blue skies and sheer beauty of the region. I now live at the foot of Pikes Peak, in an area filled with unusually shaped red rock formations set against a gorgeous mountain range and a vibrant blue sky boasting the best cloud formations that I've ever seen. The always-changing light andcolors of the mountains coupled with the daily parade of wildlife past my backdoor inspire my artistic endeavors. Here I'm able to go hiking and biking, and also indulge my inner-magpie, collecting vintage valentines, vintage clothingbuttons, new and vintage biscuit tins, toy robots and hoards of cookbooks.
Now I devote myself full-time to creating my own designs and illustrations, experimenting with a wide range of media and trying out new techniques to create fresh designs, specifically those for children. These illustrations have delighted me throughout my life. I especially love the light-heartedness that creating art for children always brings. When people tell me that my work makes them smile and feel happy, it's doubly rewarding-I can't help but smile and feel joyful myself.
